Here are some of our past and current programs.
In November 2022, we hosted table tennis events weekly at the Community Hall. We invited professional coaches to teach children ages 10+ the fundamentals of the game. This event was open for all community members to play games and have fun.
Maitland Garden Village used to flourish with beautiful green gardens. The gardening program hopes to beautify the village once again through the creation of community and personal gardens.
We partnered with the Great Commissions Network to encourage our community members to create their own gardens. This will allow our less fortunate neighbors to harvest their own food as well as bring the gardens back to "The Garden Village".
Vertical gardening is an alternative to traditional bed style gardening. It can be done in a variety of structures, which can be built out of recycled and repurposed materials. Some of the benefits include:
Better accessibility
Less water requirements
Less space requirements
The Awareness Program hopes to start a conversation about various issues within our community. We hope to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, drugs and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy, and other kinds of abuse
The Home Care Program was created to care for the elderly residents of Maitland Garden Village by carrying out simple tasks such as bathing them, cutting nails, refilling toiletries, and cleaning their homes
Starting in 2013, the Soup Kitchen is one of our longest running programs. It was the only program that was active during Covid-19, where we brought food directly to our community members' houses.
The Education Program teaches both youth and adult classes on various topics including maths lessons, resume building, computer skills, and more.
We partnered with the Great Commissions Network to encourage our community members to create their own gardens. This will allow our less fortunate neighbors to harvest their own food as well as bring the gardens back to "The Garden Village".
The music program was created to allow all members of the community to learn how to play an instrument
The gym program offers different fitness classes, such as yoga and walking, in order to keep our community active and healthy.
The Dance Program provides choreographed and freestyle dancing led by a youth instructor.
